Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?

I don't think I've ever bought peanut oil, though I believe I've heard it's good for cooking at high temps. Certainly I like peanuts.

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?

My daughter likes hers with butter and cinnamon, but I bet she'd like a good olive oil, too.

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?

Yes, in her adulthood my daughter, who resembles her aunt, seems to have been developing dietary sensitivities similar to those of her aunt. When we have baked potatoes, she eats sweet potatoes. She still eats cheese, but she has to watch out about eggs and chicken. Now, both she and her aunt are fi...

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?

Lol. Well, I hope it doesn't get as bad as that. Around here, I think of ragweed as an autumnal thing. Spring pollens for us are trees and flowers. Fall pollens are grasses and weeds. Either one can be really tough, but in recent years I think the spring allergies have been worse. My husband's siste...

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?

Aww, through the internet, Andy? I attended choir practice at church tonight for the first time since Easter. There were only five of us who showed up, out of thirteen. Everybody else, including my husband, was out sick. Allergies are brutal in April around here, and allergies set you up for respira...

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?

The grocery store we frequent was cleared out of Easter candies by Easter afternoon. However, I did snag an Easter lily with five unopened buds for $1.40 on Easter Monday.

Re: Solar Eclipse! Some viewing tips if you don't have the special glasses.

Good advice, Mau. We didn't even try, because it wasn't total in our area, and we had a mostly cloudy day anyway. We were very fortunate to see a total solar eclipse on our very street back in August of 2017. The sky was cloudless, and we got the whole remarkable experience. Not something I feel com...

Re: Easter Bunny Lore: What's your favorite version?

I didn't know that it was meant to be two films. It is a long one, for sure. Those "event" pictures were big in the 50s as well as the earlier 60s. I think it was part of Hollywood's panicked response to television. I've never seen Zhivago or Laurence of Arabia properly, which is to say, a...

Re: Easter Bunny Lore: What's your favorite version?

My phone buffers so much I can't get through that clip. I'm sure it's something that came along after my time. I have Cleopatra on dvd also, but I don't watch it much. I actually saw it in the theater when it first came out, with my mother and my aunt. There was so much hype around it, not only beca...

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?

Lol. I bought jelly beans to make a little Easter candy treat I didn't get around to this past weekend. I saw it in a magazine. Fudge brownies, topped with Chinese noodles cooked with marshmallows to form nests on top of the brownies. Jelly beans for eggs. Peeps birds for the mama's. It's probably g...

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?

Mau, you said Easter "snuck up" on you this year. I think it did that to everybody, since it was early. I prefer April Easters. And I had zero energy to plan a nice meal at home. Consequently I'm determined to celebrate it as a season this year (which technically it is; it lasts through Pe...
