Re: Catching up
Good genes and large families make for great histories. Definitely agree there. I enjoy learning about family histories. :) Well, as I've said, my maternal grandfather was born in 1875, and that's pretty mind-blowing for me, too, even though I know I'm older than you. But in the South, we still thi...

Re: Solar Eclipse! Some viewing tips if you don't have the special glasses.
A neat gift indeed! Though as far as true to type goes, I'm honestly not sure. I know it's tricky with apples because the seeds are pretty random as far as what kind of apple will sprout...will it be sweet, sour, big or tiny? It's hard to say. But I don't know much about lemons or citrus fruit. All ...

Re: Happy Pi Day!
Walpurgisnacht huh? I think I've seen that mentioned in other threads. I don't know much about it. Isn't it the other holiday that's supposed to have a deep connection with the spirit world and life and death? I guess I'll have to dig around and do some research on it. I don't know much about it. I ...

Re: Gardening
I haven't completely plotted out my garden yet. I'll probably end up breaking down and growing some kind of pumpkins. I tried starting tomatoes and peppers early and the wind took out my green house. But thankfully the plants at the plant sale weren't too expensive. I also re-assembled the green hou...

Re: Promoting my book: Sky Kingdom
My daughter has one novel she wrote in high school and early college, then completely revised after college. So far she has not sought to publish it. But most of her writing is plays (theater major), and publication for that means mounting the plays. She's gone so far as to have a table reading for...

Re: Promoting my book: Sky Kingdom
Indeed it really is. There's so many venues out there now for publishing, including amazon and lulu. It's challenging trying to break into the traditional publishing market, and plus I hear they end up owning the rights to some of your published content. I suppose if you aren't THAT attached to your...

Re: Catching up
No cosplaying here, but we did wear some cool tee shirts. Honestly it was a bit of a spur of the moment thing since the SRO (School Resource Officer) I work with was talking about it during "car duty." Every morning we have to make sure the kids cross safely into the school building, and b...

Well, I'm popping in now to say hello! I'll probably be more active in the summer and fall. Summer because I'll be off work, and fall for obvious reasons. Not like a certain holiday comes around the corner or anything that we get excited about.

Re: Happy Pi Day!
Oh yeah, the convention was a ton of fun! So far it's been one of the biggest highlights of the year. Speaking of which, I can't believe it's flying by so fast already. I'm REALLY looking forward to summer though. I'm taking a couple months off instead of working this year to get some projects done ...

Re: Solar Eclipse! Some viewing tips if you don't have the special glasses.
Thank you! I'm always glad to share helpful advice whenever I can. School actually did issue some (very cheap mind you) eclipse glasses. I only got a glimpse of it. It made a crescent moon shape on the sun. Of course where I'm at we're not going to get the total eclipse. It was cloudy though, but oc...

Re: Gardening
Time to dust off the gardening thread! I just got some tomato, pepper, cucumber and squash plants from the plant sale today. They have it every year and it supports the local PTO for the district I work at. I also stopped at Walmart and got three strawberry plants. I was a little disappointed they d...

Solar Eclipse! Some viewing tips if you don't have the special glasses.
No eclipse glasses? No problem! You can take a piece of paper like card stock or an index card and punch a tiny hole in it. Then hold it over the other piece of paper and watch the shadow of the eclipse that way. Apparently kitchen colanders or cheese graters work too or something with holes in it t...

Re: Are y'all ready for Easter?
Happy Easter everyone! Nice decorations Andy! Thrift stores are some of the best places to find stuff. I didn't really have much time to decorate for easter this year. It snuck up on me. XD Oh well. I got to put a few things up at work at least, just some cut outs of bunnies and eggs that I made in ...

Is an energy drink, Murf. They have their own unique signature flavors, but they also do collaborations with different brands and fandoms. Of course, finding the Sonic the Hedgehog ones were what drew me to try their line of drinks. But I figured it would be cool to share the horror theme ones...
