Re: Bird feeding/Watching

Those are nice photos, even with the glare of the curtain. If you had opened that curtain to shoot the photo, that bird would have flown away. I liked your video, too. The company that made your camera should have an on line manual for it, but you might have to have Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to...

Re: Happy Easter 2014!!!!!

The town where I live, you can as many rabbits, squirrels or crows as you want. All you have to do is find a way to catch them. I wouldn't want any crows flying around my house however.

Re: Swedish Easter Wizard?

Thanksgiving feasts were very common in Puritan society, so I wouldn't be surprised. I think the reason why the pilgrims of the May Flower got al the press, as you say, is because they had a wonderful Fall harvest, despite horrendous hard ships they faced, and they made friends with the Native Amer...

Re: When do you start hankering for Halloween?

That's how I use to think. It was that way in the Summer of 96, when we had that horrible heat wave that killed over 700 people, but I can promise you, in no uncertain terms, that this May, June, July, August, September, or October, I am not even going to be THINKING about January. Come November I'...

Re: Little Halloween Reminder

I hope your team wins. The main reason why I'm looking forward to 'Little Halloween' so much this time around, though, is because I am not going to have any place that I have to be. I will be retired, and have plenty of time for horror movies, a special "Little Halloween" meal and a fake ...

Re: Is there such a thing as an after life, the soul and gho

When I received the Sacrament of Confirmation, I was told to choose a Confirmation name after praying on it and reading the Bible. I came up with the name Patrick for my Confirmation name, in honor of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland. I agree with Murph. God does know my name, and some how ...

Re: Bird feeding/Watching

MauEvig, those aren't half bad photos, but if there's a way you can speed up your shutter speed, you might be able to capture the humming birds a little better. Check out your camera's manual. Murf, watch out for those blue jays. They can be pretty aggressive especially around children and especial...

Re: Swedish Easter Wizard?

The pilgrims who came to America from England where being persecuted for their religion, which is why they boarded the May Flower. They where puritans, and the puritan religion had a tradition of celebrating a religious 'Feast of Thanksgiving." The puritan 'Feast of Thanksgiving,' was not held...

Re: Is there such a thing as an after life, the soul and gho

I've hear a lot of 'out of body' and 'near death' stories, and I actually believe many of them. One interesting observation you made was about remembering your own birth. Another thing that should be point out is that new born babies usually don't have their eyes opened at all. Mike

Re: Happy Walpurgis Night

Thank you, Season of the Witch. I'm thinking about San Antonio Texas myself. I never knew about May Day. I do know that when ever the 13th of the month falls on a Friday, it's supposed to be an evil or 'bad luck' day, which is why I observe 'Little Halloween' every time the 13th is on a Friday. Mike

I hope you have a good time at the game. Perhaps you can pop in a DVD when you get home.

Yes in deed, only six more months, BUT I am going to enjoy Spring and Summer with a vengeance, because last Winter was a major drag.

High Powered Hand Held Lasers for Pumpkins

Hi Folks: I am planning on ordering one of those 2000 mW lasers from Wichedlasers.com, and I got an idea into my head, wouldn't that be a great way to light a jack o'lantern. I would have to set it at minimum power, however, because if I had it at full power it would burn the inside of the pumpkin,...

Re: Bird feeding/Watching

I would love to try to get photos of Humming Birds. The trick to that is to use your fastest shutter speeds. Depending on the weather, (i.e. if it's a cloudy day) you may have to boost your ISO, but the very rapid movement of their wings are very hard to capture unless you are shooting at least 1/5...
