Re: When are you planning to decorate for Christmas this year?

Hopefully the temperature doesn't drop too far down here. But they have closed school yesterday and today due to the snow, cold and wind chills. Not that I mind, I actually see it as one of the perks of being a 10 month employee. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy working with the kiddos but mentally speak...

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2024

That's quite the story you shared, Headless. Thanks for sharing! That's definitely one heck of a crazy childhood, putting it mildly of course. But I'm happy you were able to build a better life for yourself, your wife and your kids. Congratulations on your success, it sounds like you've earned it. A...

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2024

Both I think. The hurdles of getting a license I found are pretty challenging, as I have to pass not only the praxis, but the VCLA, or the Virginia Compentency and Literacy Assessment. Now, I did pass the VCLA but I found the praxis far more challenging and I need to find time to study for it so I c...

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2024

Well to be fair, life is short as it is. I think it's just important to be happy. Headless, how'd you get so lucky to obtain all those properties and businesses? I work as an aide and barely make diddly squat. I wonder if I went into the wrong field sometimes. Even a full teacher's salary isn't much...

Re: When are you planning to decorate for Christmas this year?

I know with inflatables if it's wet I like to let them run for a few minutes to dry off. I think the lights will be fine though. But I don't like putting stuff away wet either. It rained yesterday. Barely snowed. I was kind of disappointed. We were supposed to have this intense weather that consiste...

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2024

I know what you mean, Mau. But if another one comes, I don't think it will be sectional or regional this time. I think it is more likely to be rural (for want of a better term) vs major metropolitain areas. And, having traveled our great country pretty extensively over the last 3 years, for the fir...

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2024

Wow, Murf. I have to say I enjoy that tidbit of history behind the black eyed peas. I also never knew "sweet" corn bread was more of a "Yankee" staple. I just figured cornbread was cornbread. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/699400891651850385/1191823340910936124/56mq...

Re: New Year's Resolutions for 2024

What an adorable image! Yes, indeed, we are not alone in our enthusiasm for Halloween. I haven't made any hard and fast resolutions, though I am overrun with clutter and detritus of thirty years in this house. So I'd like to get serious about donating, organizing, and tossing. I think you are most ...

Re: When are you planning to decorate for Christmas this year?

I went to parochial school and Easter break was Easter break. Christmas was Christmas...etc. We even had Columbus day and a handful of holy days off, although church attendance was mandatory on those days. By law, or by family? Just curious. There are some things I definitely think were better back...

Re: When are you planning to decorate for Christmas this year?

Well, I'm sorry to hear that the scheduling up there is not so much to your liking. Here, they get a week of spring break, which often, but not always, coincides with Easter. If they are separate, everybody gets Good Friday off. It is what it is, Murf. Honestly, I do like how I'm treated (for the m...

New Year's Resolutions for 2024

Happy New Year 2024! Anyone got any New Year's Resolutions they'd like to share? I'm going to try to eat healthier, and work on being an overall better person. I'm done worrying about what other people think about me. I'm also going to try and focus on getting my projects done. I'm not expecting muc...

Re: When are you planning to decorate for Christmas this year?

Apparently, yeah. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Guess districts are trying to be more "PC" That said, while they were working on the academic calendar for 2024-2025 there was a vote for a weeklong spring break as opposed to having it broken in half with a mini break for s...

Re: When are you planning to decorate for Christmas this year?

Where'd the edit button go? On second thought, taking the tree down was definitely sad for me. But it's done. :( We actually get one additional day off in January and nothing for February. It's leap year though so that should be interesting. Definitely taking a nice long summer break this year thoug...
