Costume Advise

Post by The Duchess » Thu Feb 16, 2012 7:42 pm

When I first started costuming I began as gentlemen of the 1700's( Colonial times, French revolution), historical costumes ( Ben Hur, Friar & Little Lord Fauntleroy) and so forth.

After costuming as Charley's Aunt ( from the play and film of the same name) I began doing some female characters such as The Ugly Duchess, Martha Sewart, The Grandmother and The Grande Auntee.

I like to make sure that I do all of my costume characters justice. I was wondering if I should continue developing some female characters along with my gentlemen and humorous ones.

Here are pictures of most of my female costume characters.

I think all of your costume choices are inspired. I guess just go with whatever grabs your fancy.

If you've been doing female characters for a while, you might want to return to a male character, just to change it up.

Want to do a king and Sir Francis Drake.

Probably will still do Mrs. Bates and Glampira since I have all of the necessary clothing and accessoroes.

I have considered doing Henry VIII as well as a Cavalier, a wolfman, a king and a midieviel prince.

Also Martha Washington, a Gothic Vampiress, Marquis De Sade, Colonial judge and Malificant.

I think Florence Nightinggale is an excellent idea to consider.

Thanks. :D

I think you'd look great in this dress Duchess. Just don't forget the 3D glasses.

I haven't actually voted in your poll, but I think the way it is phrased sort of weights it in favor of the female characters. You do make a great female character in those costumes, so that's easy to vote for. And the second option makes it sound like anyone who would vote for that one doesn't want to see you ever do another female character again.

I think there could be a third option--you could take a break from the female characters and choose a male character again for one year or two. It might be unexpected, just because you have excelled at the female characters and seem to have done a lot of them lately.

But really, this is all for fun, so do whatever makes you happy.

I voted for more male costumes because you only seem to have one or two of those but a plethora of female characters, not because I hate your female characters, but there wasnt another option for "because I dont have many male costumes"
