Ghost in your House?

Ever been in a truly haunted home? Are there any ghosts in your own house? If so, please post it here and we like to hear your story here!


Well, when I was a child, some strange things often happened at my great grandmother's house, such as footsteps that sounded like they were coming from the attic, weird optical illusions in the bathroom, something that shaked her from under the bed, etc. But it never struck me as really haunted, just strange.

So, I will post small story here when I get right back here asap.

My house is supposed to be haunted according to some local stories, and it's certainly old enough to be haunted as it was built in 1910, but after living there for 12 years, I've not seen any ghosts personaly.

That's strange... you've not seen any ghosts lately - but did you hear anything?

Anyway, my house is still haunting anytime from now and on... My grandpa bought this house in 1955, but it was first built as a small church here in 1950, just 5 years later, this church house was closed and moved. Some carpenters came to re-build something little differently than this church house. It's much bigger than before, what my grandpa says. He and my grandma as well as children heard something weird, also children saw some ghosts and screaming late at night when they were in bed. Well, that's all...I will come back for more about this story.

I do not live in a haunted house. But I do work with a lady who says her house is haunted. Ghosts have distroyed her basement. Things get thrown around, tables get flipped over, holes in the walls, lights turning on & off during the night. She has a door that leads to her basement and she has it locked. She says she never goes down there and never lets anyone go either.

Through out my lifetime, I have been in haunted hotels. Remember that story I told you about my socks were being taken off while I was asleep?

HauntMaster, despite all the stories I've heard, I have experienced nothihg out of the ordinary in the way of any hauntings, ghosts or unnatural noises at my house. The only time anything goes "bump" in the night (or any other time of the day for that matter) is when I crank out my stereo.

PumpkinKing, that is scary. As old as I am, I would freak if some one or some thing started to remove my socks while I was lieing on a bed in a hotel room. I would likely check out or request another room.

That's strange thing occurred at the haunted hotel, but never been there or seen anything like that in either hotel or motel... I really can't remember that ghost removed your socks, PK.

PM, I hope you will see ghosts or hear anything some of these days.

So anyways, ok, there was an ugly yellow house a few houses away from me just across the street, that my riend was looking into buying because it was a steal, but the real estate agent warned him it was full of old junk and furniture and the neighborhood kids said it was haunted.

They noticed in the backroom of the house where a ghost of old lady rocking her chair, when the kids looked into the window and the ghost lay turned her eyes in red glow, then the kids ran away. That's strange.... Well, good thing that my friend decided not to buy that house. A couple of years later, that yellow house was torn down and re-build a new house, it looks beautiful than before!

Beautiful??? I think it's terible when an old, dignified house gets displace for some ticky-tacky thing you see today. There are not enough old, haunted houses left today.

My house is still haunting, and the ghosts are harmless.... It's not bothering me. But it's still bothering my girlfriend and grandpa too!

Yes, I was saddened to see most of the real haunted houses are gone! Why can't they leave like that way there for a long time? It's just like the history story.

I'll never understand it, HauntMaster. A lot of historical places are being torn down to make way for gated communities, condominiums or shopping malls. Just two years ago, the house where the original "The Haunting" was shot was torn down to make way for a Wal-Mart. Of all things to tear down a late Victorian Era mansion. To put up another Wal-Mart???

It's enough to gag a maggot!

I visited my great uncle who lived on a farm more than 20 years ago... he pointed that very, very old brown wooden small house, saying that where the black slaves used to live there long, long time ago... That was in NC. He told me that the house was built around 1882.... later in 1997, I visited him again at same place 'cause he never moved. When I walked through the woods to see that old house again, but it was GONE!! I spoke with my great uncle about that house we saw long, long time ago. He told me that some farmers decided to remove that old house because they needed to make more room for planting the corns, tobaccos, cotton plants, pumpkins, tomatoes, green beans, lima beans and so on.... Well, it looks a lot different than before.

And, he also told me that some farmers saw some ghosts around that old house which they didn't know how the ghosts have been around that house all the time during the night only. Well, during the daytime you will see nothing - but you will hear something strange like voices, door creakings, footsteps somewhere inside that old house. My uncle really never heard or seen anything inside and outside of the old house because he thought he would not dare to go near there! I wish my uncle would do it - but I guess he was too old and chicken s**t!

If that hosue was built to house slaves, it had to be built no later then 1859 or 1860, because slavery ended in this country in 1861, when Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclimation, which declared that all slaves were free citizens. (I think that was the right year at any rate, but I could be wrong.) The Civil War broke out shortly after when the Confederate Army fired on Fort Sumper, and ended when Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulyses S. Grant in 1865.

It could have been a servants quarters if it was built in 1882.

Ok, you got the right point, PM. All slaves ended in 1861. Yes, that house was built in 1882. I asked my great uncle to find out how he did know about it. His grandfather told him about this house story and the servants, like what you just said, not slaves.

Well, my great uncle was born in 1920 and he's still alive! He's 88 years old!

That was the same year my mother was born. 1920. God rest her soul. My father was born in 1909.

Both my grandma and grandpa were born in 1924. I missed my grandma because she passed away in 1992 from lung cancer - but I'm still glad that my grandpa is still alive and well. He's 84, and he will be 85 in May.

My grandpa likes tv show called "The Rifle Man" you know, Chuck Connors? Yeah, I like him too! Well, it was sad to hear that Chuck Connors died in 1992 from lung cancer.... well, he was born in 1921.


Anyways, when I was 11 in 1986, my next door neighbors, both old man and old woman - that old man was born in 1899, then died in 1987. His wife was born in 1901, then died in 1993.

Wow! That's a good long life. I doubt I'll go too far past my 70th Birthday.

I watched Chuck Connors in "The Riffle Man" when it was reran on WFLD way back in the 1970s. It was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I wasn't even born when it originaly aired on prime time tv.

I had a grandmother who was born in 1888. She died in 1977, just three days after Christmas. She was 89 years old. My grandfather on my dad's side died before I was born, my grandmother on my mom's side died before I was born. My grandfather on my mom's side died in 1968. I was almost but not quite 8 years old at the time. He was born in the 1880s, and he was in his late 70s or early 80s when he died. He use to come to our house for a visit every Friday night. He would bring a two pound Hershey bar, a pound of Chocolate covered raisens, a pound of chocolate covered peanuts and a pount of Brachs Malted Milk Balls. He would also give me and my younger sister 5 pennies each that we would go out and blow on gum balls at the Mt. Greenwood Cleaners's gum ball machine every Saturday morning.
