Want to quit smoking?

Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

There's some good advice on that web site. I use to be a smoker, and I quit. The only way anyone will ever quite smoking is to completely avoid anything that contains Nicotine. The patch, or nicotine gum is not going to help, because it still puts the drug into your system. You have to detoxify yourself, like any other drug addiction. That's why you must completely get the nicotine out of your system.

Does this make you think twice about smoking?

I don't smoke, I think it's such a useless addiction. I think it's great that you want to try and help people out. Some people are pretty stubborn though.
My cousin's trying to quit. The worst I've ever done was "try" cigarettes...and they just burned up my throat, and came to the conclusion that they sucked. Blech! Seriously, I know these cancer sticks have nicotene but how does anyone get addicted to these things? They burn your throat, make you cough, and make it hard to breath. My allergies are enough to cause me misery without having to add to it.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

Well, I do smoke some cigarettes everyday and I do drink some beers and mixed drinks on the weekends only. It's hard for me to quit smoking myself because I'm addicted smoking as often as I do. Same thing to my cousin, Haunt master, he was trying to quit smoking cigarettes but he can't help it. He always loves to drink beer, wine and whiskey every night at home, at his friends' house, even at the bar which is called St. Paddy's Pub.

Anyway, back to topic... I wish I can do anything to quit smoking, but I have time to think about it myself. I know it's not worth wasting money on a pack of cigarettes that always costs around $5.00 per pack everyday! When I walked in any grocery store where I see all kind of cartons of cigarettes, mostly cost around $40.00 - $50.00! Really, I can't afford to buy the carton myself! WTH!!!

I think you have to get used to them before you get addicted.

Well, I'm glad I didn't because personally I think I'd just be throwing my money away.
And let's not forget all the health care costs in the long run when you start developing things like Emphesema, Chronic Bronchitis...and even Lung cancer which can be really scary.
Smoking is a useless habit that makes you throw your money away...and for what? Damaged lungs, cancer, and other things? Not to mention difficulty breathing. No thanks.
It also stains your teeth and fingers and makes your walls turn a dirty yellow color. Gross!

I smoked many years ago. I quit in the Summer of 83. Cigarettes went up to 75 Cents a pack (7.50 per carton) and I fealt t hat the cigarette companies were ripping me off, so I quit, and boy am I glad.

Glad to hear it Pumpkin man. You made a smart choice by quitting.
Imagine paying as much as you do now for a pack, what, five bucks a pack of smokes? It's ridiculous!
But the nice thing is, now you won't be paying for the health risks either.

5 bucks a pack??? That's 50 bucks a carton!! I remember quitting when they were 7.50 a carton. In my area, they're 4.50 a pack or 45 buck a carton. And megga dittos on the health costs.
