I am not big fan of higher taxes, but when it comes to things like tobacco or liquor, they can tax that 6 ways to Sunday for all I care. Those products do nobody any good at all, and create all kinds of ailments that cost billions for our Health Care System to treat, so the taxes IMHO are highly justified on these products.

Like I said, one of the reasons I quite smoking is because It hought 75 cents a pack was too much.

Nowadays .75 cents a pack would be a godsend to smokers. By the way, Lucky Strikes nowadays are $11.02 a pack. I heard back in the day they used to come with two cents and a pack of matches for .25 cents. You're lucky to get a gumball for that price anymore. The store I work at though has the "candy cigarettes" for .25 plus tax though.

I didn't know that anyone still made candy cigarettes.

I loved those as a kid, probably steered me to the habit.

That's exactly what steared e to the habbit. I loved candy cigarettes, because they made me feel like I was "one of the guys.' All of my older siblings smoked, but I was too young, and when I was a little older, candy cigarettes no longer did it for me. I started smoking the real McCoy behing the garage when I was about 11.

I remember the first cigarettes I stole from my great grandmother when I was 12 with my cousin, same my age too. We went outside in the backyard smoking together. At 14, me and my cousin went to the tiny giant store, we stole a few packs of Camel cigarettes. I was bad boy long time ago. hee hee

Was that long time ago? I've never seen any stores that sell cigarettes in a jar.

I used to buy cigars off of this boy whose grandparents owned the smoke shop nearby. But then he died.
