I prefer skittish over homicidal.

My late brother use to live out in Momence Ill on a farm. He was always a dog guy, but his land lord owned a rather large black tom cat who went by the name of Wally. Wally, when it came to humans, other cats and even dogs, was one of the sweetest tempered, loving cat you could ever meet. EXCEPT if one happened to be a raccoon. As soon as a raccoon was near about, this lovable feline Dr. Jekyll would transform into a maniacal 'hair-standing-head' Mr. Hyde that you didn't even went to get too close to. This is no exaggeration. Wally's growling made him sound like he was a lot bigger then he actually was. That's probably because when he was a kitten, he was attacked by a raccoon and had to go to the vets for stitches. With Wally on the beat, raccoons are dead meat!

Wally was a sweatheart, Witchy. So were all the cats I've known over the years. I think I've been lucky when it comes to cats.

If I was a younger man, I would have a cat in the house.

That's the beauty of cats, they're self sufficient.

This is the other housecat, diametrically opposed personality of the she-devil posted elsewhere.

How do you entertain a dog that doesn't play very much?

Dogs, when they get older, pretty much just like to laze around the house, or go for a walk occasionally with you. When my Irish Setter got to be elderly, she loved to go for a walk in the woods once in a while, but for the most part she would curl up with me on the couch while I played records or watched tv.
