Tomorrow I'm going to a baby shower...my cousin's having her first baby. I'm kind of nervous because I've never been to one before...and well...to be quite honest I'm not even that crazy about babies to begin with!
But I'm going to support my cousin. There will be food and cake and stuff there, and we give presents to the mother for her baby, and play some really weird games.
I got her a baby outfit and a toy lion. It's gonna be a boy.
Any of you ghouls been to a baby shower before? I heard it's traditionally a thing women do and men aren't allowed. That's going to be the REALLY awkward part since I tend to get along better with guys...and I don't know if I feel all that comfortable hanging around a bunch of other women cooing over an unborn child.
But hey...free food. And for you guys, do they have an equivlent type of celebration for fathers to be?

Baby Showers *shudder*
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

Glory hallelujiah, no we don't.
I'm not very sentimental (just mental
) but I think that this is a ladies-only tradition.
I get it that it's nice to celebrate with your friends and all, I'm just glad I got the Y chromosome...

All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Re: Baby Showers *shudder*
My wife just attened a baby shower yesterday for one of my cousins. I have to agree, the baby shower is definitely a female tradition. The good news is, it fades. The first born is always the biggest shower, and it's usually pretty helpful for the parents-to-be to get some of the "equipment" necessary to raise a baby. But after that initial baby, the showers tend to die down.
My wife only had showers for our first two girls. After that, I think everyone just expected us to have everything.
Still, my wife enjoys going to the occasional shower just to get away and visit with friends and family.

Remember, it's never too early to start planning for Halloween.
