Happy Memorial Day!

Post by DemonSlayerMau » Mon May 25, 2009 9:40 pm

I hope you guys had a good Memorial Day! There was a pretty good parade here in town.
Although, beyond that we didn't really do much.
Yesterday I put flags on my grandfather's graves.
But that's pretty much it.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

Fly your flag.

I remember having to xplain the holiday to all kids when they were little. Now, they're all older, they get it. And, I thanked my grandfather for serving WW2 in Japanfrom 1942 - 1945.

My grandfather was in WWII as well. He was a medic that served in Japan.
My other grandfather served during wartime but didn't actually go to war. He was in the national guard and attained the rank of sergeant.
Although memorial day was originally meant to commerate our loved ones who died on the battle field, I feel like we should remember everyone we've lost.
But the funny thing is...I feel if we were to combine Memorial day with Halloween....we'd get a Holiday like Dia de muertos in Mexico.
Actually, at one point in history Halloween actually was like a memorial day for the dead. And it lasted for three nights....All Hallows Eve...All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

I got some gardeninf in, read a new haunted house directory (Haunted Houses of California), BBQ'd a lot, and relaxed.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.
