Even if there weren't riots going on, I don't think I would really care to vacation in a big city any more. It might be fun for a day or two, but all in all, I like the open road, and creepy, isolated, haunted places with plenty of great photo ops.

Like I said, as soon as I trade in the old beater, it's off to Green Lake Wisconsin.

Since the purpose of our trip is to folliw Lewis and Clark, I think a wilderness/camping adventure is in order.

I actually love cities, but not when there is unrest.

We were in NYC June 2019 briefly. It was okay, but I’d prefer sleep hallow or something!

The last time I was in New York City was in 1993. I attended a "Dark Shadows" festival that was held at the Marriot Marquis Hotel, located in Times Square. I had a lot of fun on that trip. I drove there on my motorcycle. My parents who were still alive at the time and older brothers all thought I was absolutely crazy, but I still had a lot of fun.

When I got into New York, the guy in charge of the parking garage where I parked my bike, actually let me put my bike in his office. It cost 30 bucks to park there for 3 days.

Oh, I know the Marriot Marquis! There is a Broadway theater on the street floor, and I saw a play there years ago.

I would love to do the Hudson Valley another year.

I have never been to New England, but my older son, who travels extensively, says he prefers Boston to NYC, except for the theater.

We've been to Maine, MA, NY, CT etc, (my wife's mom is in upstate NY and she has other family in Maine). Those areas have always been beautiful. I haven't yet been up there over Halloween and I'd like to. PA over Halloween, yes, and the fall leaves were wonderful.

When my daughter was a college sophomore, she visited a friend from Boston over fall break. They went to Salem! I was jealous, lol.

Murf, the Marriot Marquis is a fabulous hotel, and I got a fabulous rate because of the " Dark Shadows " festival, all though one must keep in mind that it was 1993. I also really enjoyed the "Dark Shadows Festival," and meeting Johnathin Frid and others in person, as well as a lot of the activities. However, in retrospect, I do wish I had visited the Statue of Liberty, rode the subway and took in a few other sights. I did attend Sunday Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, though. It was one of the most awesome Cathedrals I was ever in. And to think that church was actually featured in the movie "Beneath the Planet of the Apes," where 2000 years in the future, what's left of New York's human population, all mutated by radiation from nuclear fall-out, are worshiping 'the bomb.'

As for Boston, I was never there, but I would love to do a 'haunted road trip' to various places in New England. I did go to Salem Mass back in the 70s, but would love to go again. I would also like to see the town of Sleepy Hallow and other creepy places on the East Coast. Perhaps when I replace my old beater I will.

When I was 10, my mother took me to NYC, and we did the Statue of Liberty, among many other things. We climbed all the way to the crown. I'm glad I did it then, because it's not the kind of thing you do twice.

I haven’t ever climbed up it, but have seen it. Whenever we go, I’d like to do so

It might not be safe to visit NYC any more. The city counsel there just voted to cut their police department budget by 1 billion dollars.

Yeah, it will be quite a while before we go back. $1 billion from the police force is nuts.

It's so sad. NYC is one of the world's great cities. There is a faction abroad that seems determined to destroy everything.

There is an online petition to remove the statue of the Pioneer from the Oregon capitol building.

It would be a shame. Its an art deco masterpiece.

I SWEAR, people are finding excuses to get offended all the time. Is there NOTHING that someone doesn't want to get rid of, vandalize or ban from public viewing any more????
