i'll keep that in mind ;)
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

okay, after a night of drying he still isnt dry ;)

here are some pics that show some detail in the skin. The yellow areas are the dry areas and the white areas are still wet. I need to figure out a way to make closed eye lids....

I was going to go with the eye socket like it is, but after looking at some real mummys and other corpse heads, I think eye lids will really sell it.

Okay.......got three colors of acrylic (water base) paint, Raw Umber, Titanium White, and Mars Black ($4.49 ea) and started painting it today. I first used brown diluted in water to make a thin wash. I made a few passes over the whole thing to get a decent base coat. Then I used the black to darken the brown and did another darker wash. Then, I made a thicker Raw Umber wash to put on it on the higher raised areas to bring out some detail. Next I will do an even lighter Raw Umber/white wash on it to really make the details pop.
Here are some pics after the first coat/wash, it's still wet so it kind of looks like a burnt head....

Okay, after a night of drying I got to work dry brushing the raised parts of the head. I took the Raw Umber and the white at a mix of 3 to 1 then used a foam brush to dry brush the whole head. Heres what it looks like..

I think it'm pretty much done with this unless something pops into my head that this really really needs......
