whew...thats good news...sort of lol
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Back in the 19th century, before embalming techniques were developed, there were actualy cases of people being burried alive. They were in what modern psychiatry refers to as a 'catatonic state.' Many catatonic people were perceived to be dead, and were burried alive for that reason. Now a days, that almost doesn't happen any more.

Edgar Allen Poe had a preoccupation with this concept, as you read about it in several of his greatest stroes. The two that come to mind are "The Fall of the House of Usher," and "Premature Burial." Now a days, if they really believe you're dead, they will embalm you prematurely, and you most definately will be dead after they pump out all of your blood.

That's why I want to be made into mulch after I die. No chance of waking up after they run you through the wood chipper.

I think creamation is the only other option besides embalming and burriel.

If I might take this opportunity to recommend a truly amazing book:

http://www.amazon.com/Stiff-Curious-Liv ... 199&sr=8-1

I warn you; it is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. But it truly is a fascinating exploration of what becomes of the shell that remains after death.

And yes, mulching IS actually an option. :wink:

There's a new option coming down the pike. Alkaline Hydrolysis. They basically dissolve the
body then flush the remains down the drain. Sposed to be environmentally friendly.
