Painting Minis

Do you have a special way to carve a pumpkin?

Painting Minis

Post by MauEvig » Fri Aug 14, 2015 11:57 am

Since I have a lot of miniature pumpkins this year (or jack be littles as some call them) I was suggested that I paint some. Now I'm just getting started but I plan to paint a bunch of them for the Farmer's market. However; the ones I have here I plan to keep.

This cat one took me a while. I made the ears out of cardboard from one of those stickers you buy at the store that come in a cardboard package for about .50 cents. Used acrylic paint and gloss. Used mod podge to glue the ears on.

This one I made into a traditional Jack o Lantern face.

I wonder what that blue one in the background is...hmmm....I'll surprise you all when I'm done with it. My boyfriend had a pretty cool suggestion for it. ^_^

Thank you! I plan to paint a whole bunch more and sell them at the Farmer's market.
I still need to turn in my application and get a table and stuff to get set up, and find out if a seller's license is required. But I really enjoy it, it's not just hand painted, it's home grown as well. :)

Wow, that's great, that you can sell your produce like that!

I added a wicked little witch to my pumpkin family.

Remember the blue pumpkin from the background? I made it into a miniature grave yard scene. I gave this one to my boyfriend. :)

do you spray them with a sealer?
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I didn't Andy, is that something you would recommend? Will it make them last longer? I'm certainly open to suggestions! :)

I decided to get some sealer. I think it'll work but in some of the pumpkins they little a little wrinkled on the bottom or form little sunk in spots. Any reason why this might happen?

Anyway I wanted to make a little faerie house out of one of them and here it is with some mini jack o lanterns made of Acorns:

Image

I used acorn "tops" (or shells if you will) for the roofing, and some tree bark for the door and window frames and just a little blue paint for the windows themselves. A tiny acorn serves a a door knob, and a bigger acorn is the "chimney."
