It's probably a good idea to bring the candy in and let the Tootsie Rolls warm up before trying to eat them, but in my neck of the woods, they're a favorite among many people.

they're a favorite in my neck of the mouth lol i've always been a tootsie fan :) even the fruity ones
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I can do without the fruity ones, but I love the regular ones.

Butterfingers are pretty close to being my fav candy bar, but then again, I also love Reeses pieces, Reeses Peanutbutter cups and Snickers. At other times, there's just no substitute for a Hersheys dark chocolate bar.

Looks like I'm gonna have to Trick or Treat at witchys place. I'll be the goblin in the cape trying not to look like I'm walking on my knees. BTB anyone remember those round colorful chocolate candies in the long plastic wrappers? I think they were called Sixties. They were sort of like M&Ms. Were they a candy induced dream? Help.
Oh, your so cool, Brewster!
Hey, Butchy. They still got Oreo's next door?
Dracula's in the house!!! In the house?!
Welcome to the party, Honey!

I tried a Google search with no joy. I guess they are lost in time with Banana Flips and Moby Grape.

Talk about the 60s. I remember a lolly pop that was made of hard carmel called a "Slow Poke." You could buy a huge 2 pound bag of them for about 50 cents, and they lasted a very long time. They were as quintasential to "Trick or Treat" as Tootsie Rolls are today. That's what my mom handed out on Halloween every year for as long as I can remember.

Yes! Sixlets! Thanks for clearing that up. They were my second second line in the candy eating process. Most Snickers, Reese's, etc.. were eaten while still trick or treating. (Never do that kids always have your parents check your candy before inhaling) Then the Sixlets and crunchy taffy. Then the hard candies over the following days. Last but not least the Mary Janes which went into the eternally full candy jar in the same warehouse that stores the Arc of the Covenant. Mystery solved.

What do I hand out for Halloween?

Rocks! But only to kids named Charlie Brown.

Has anyone else already bought the candy that you're planning on handing out? And are you eating it also? I'm snarfing Kit Kats and Peanut Butter Cups right now. Guess I'll have to make another trip to the store.
