I've gotta get some more of that Ghirardelli Chocolate. 60 percent cacao or greater. Live it! Love it! Put it in your face!
Oh, your so cool, Brewster!

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

We usually get the Kiddie Mix at Sam's. Has things like tootsie rolls, smarties, dum dums. Then I buy a bag of lollipops for the babies. I will get some bags of the good stuff...snickers minis, reece's cups, and candy corn. CC is a must have!

Lucky for me my wife loves Halloween as much as I do. Every year she makes up little gift bags filled with candy, toys, stickers, and the like. Spider rings are a must. It's a nice replacement for the home made popcorn balls and candy apples we all wish we could give out. The kids love it and it helps scratch the craft work itch we all seem to get this time of year. That little extra effort goes a long way in the Halloween memories of us all. I'm glad to hear other people out there remember what Halloween is all about. :alien:

The problem with giving out anything home made today is nobody will trust it. It's sad, but it's the reality fo this "wonderful" modern world we live in. One of our neighbors in Mt. Greenwood handed out home made popcorn balls every Halloween. To this very day, I have never tasted a popcorn ball so good. I really miss those days. My sister inlaw also use to make carmel apples, using carmel that she made from scratch. Those were the best carmel apples I ever ate in my life.

I know. I'll always miss the pumpkin shaped M&M cookies Old Mrs. Briton used to give out. They were so big they couldn't fit in the pumpkin pale. We have to take Halloween back from the kooks and propagandists. Short of that having big Halloween parties is the only answer.

Trick or Treat certainly is not what it use to be, and it's all the fear mongering that's the main culprit. I can remember getting a lot of home made goodies in my Trick or Trea bag every Halloween, all the way up until the very last year I TOTed. The pop corn balls I told you about were the best, but there were also little sacks of cookies, home made candies of varying kinds, home made pieces of fudge, wrapped in wax paper, the list goes on and on. I had to hide my TOT bag from my younger siter, dog, and older siblings for fear they would take all the "good stuff." My father allways called dibs on all the licorice, and I was more then happy to oblige him on that one. But the good candy, I kept to myself, and packed some of it in my school lunches. Yes, the school I went to did not have a cafeteria or hot lunches. We had to pack our own.

My mom is giving out Play-doh this year. I'm like "Really, Mom? Way to ruin Halloween!" I have nothing against Play-doh, I just think Halloween should be all about CANDY!
