I love ginger bread! I only make mine around Thanksgiving and Christmas though. Perhaps I'll make some for the big night this year :)

There's no describing the pop corn balls I use to get when I was a kid. Corn syrup, marshmellow cream and some times carmel was used. The ones I loved were home made by one of our neighbors, and there was not the level of mistrust that there is today. I don't know how this woman made them, but they were absouletly to die for.

I've had others, but they couldn't hold a candle.

Mike, if you look up popcorn ball recipes on line, you will see many variations, including some with caramel. There's no way to know what recipe your neighbor used, but there are many, many versions of this classic treat.

I decided at the last minute to make some Rice Krispie treats for the big day. I added a little bit of cinnamon-sugar to the melting marshmallow. I couldn't really taste it when they were done but my sister did say that they were very good and she never compliments anything I cook!

you know, I cook, I know what goes into making things, food, treats, etc, but I wont let my kids eat home made treats from Halloween unless it comes from people we know, I just toss them in the trash because you just cant trust anyone now days.

Not that I'm saying you would ever do anything like that, just saying I wont accept that kind of stuff.
I feel a little guilty because I know the work involved but you just cant take a chance you know?

Believe it or not, Rice Krispie Treats, or "Krispie Cookies" as we called them, were a major Thanksgiving tradition since time inmemorial for my family. One time, I got a taste for them. It was the middle of july. I didn't bother reading the recipe on the box. I thought I had it nailed. I didn't realize that I was supposed to add margerine or butter to the melted marshmellows, so when they were done, it was like biting into a shingle.

After that, I allwasy was sure to add margerine or butter.

Pumpkin bread with chocolate hazelnut spread. Yumm. I also love Indian corn, (just like candy corn but in different colors. I swear it tastes different) and mallow pumpkins. There used to be a brand called Hickory Harvest in my area that put out the best Indian/Candy corn and mallow pumpkins as well as gummy pumpkins, but I haven't been able to find them for few years. Now I go with Brachs.

For Halloween I'll put together a mix of Indian corn, mallow pumpkins, and chocolate Halloween M-N-M's. Though has anyone else noticed they stopped with the just orange and black combo and went with more "fall colors". Not to go all Foamy-the-Squirel, but what's up with that?! I want the just black and orange ones back. :(

Sorry. Though this one year I was helping my mother out and staying at her house when the Halloween products were just starting to come out. I picked up a mix of Indian corn and mallow pumpkins and my mom picked out all the Indian corn and left all the mallow pumpkins.

I have more than one actually lol!

Cider and Donuts, Halloween Oreos, those Pumpkin shaped Reeses, and Halloween Funfetti cake.

Also since I usually get a pizza for Halloween I guess that counts too. LOL.
