Re: Classic Halloween photos
There is one more post with some Peanuts pictures above this.
The first picture in this post is from my local supermarket, it shows the Peanuts design on the side of the shipper they use for the pumpkins. Most of the good pumpkins were already gone by the time I got there though.
The other picture of the Jason Voorhees snack cakes I found online, I don't know if they are real, or if someone just made the picture, but I want them.

If the Jason cupcakes are real I'd have to buy 2 boxes, one to eat and one to save.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Omg! No, I don't think they are making Peanuts specials or Hostess cupcakes like that, lol.
Our Kroger does not have cool pumpkin boxes like that.

Well, this is... interesting, it's a ad from a old comic for Twinkies with Batman and The Mummy from 1975, it's hard to believe that was 50 years ago. It is unbelievably nonsensical and ridiculous, but I consider it Halloween related because it was in the Oct. issue, and it has a Mummy!

That's really cute. I never saw that before.
And, yes, I recall 1975 quite vividly. I was 20 years old, and it was the year I left home. Weird how looking back over all those eventful years, a half century doesn't feel as long as it does when you're looking ahead.

It's probably a safe bet that none of us will still be here by then, I would be 94, and if my math is correct, Andy would be 108, and Murf would be a very impressive 121 years old!

Well, I have promised my children to live to 120, since I think somewhere in the Bible it says that's possible. But I don't think 121 is permitted.
At the rate my kids are going, I think I may need to live to 120 if I'm ever to see grandchildren.

Well, according to Google the oldest person ever verified was Jeanne Calment, a French woman who lived to be 122 years and 164 days old. She was born on February 21, 1875, and died on August 4, 1997.
The current oldest living person, is Ethel Caterham of the United Kingdom, born on August 21, 1909, and she is currently 115 years old.
I also read about a woman named Sarah Knauss that lived from 24 September 1880 to 30 December 1999, and she was 119 years, 97 days. If she had only lived a little longer, she was so close to witnessing the year 2000.
I know the part of the Bible that you are referring to, it was Genesis 6:3: "My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years."
Of course, the Bible does mention people with way longer lifespans than that, particularly in the early chapters of Genesis. Some examples I can think of are Adam, Methuselah, Abraham and Noah. I believe that Methuselah lived to 969 years old.

Yes, and even so he died before his father (grandfather?), who I think was Enoch. One of those riddles I recall from way back.
I went to a religious college that required everyone to pass courses in Old and New Testaments before they graduated. Our OT prof said that some people think the ancient Jews may have counted two years for our one, since they had two harvests a year. But that still doesn't account for people living 900+ years.

Re: Classic Halloween photos
Having read about 20 different versions of the Bible, I have noticed that each version varies slightly from the other, some have minor differences while others vary drastically. That information is still in my head, but I admit that sometimes it can get a bit jumbled because there is just so much of it, and it's been over 20 years since I read those different versions.
There are various interpretations of the long lifespans in the Bible, some people think they are symbolic rather than literal, and some think that people had a different way of measuring time in those days.
Other theories propose that changes in the environment or genetic decline over time might have contributed to the decrease in lifespans, possibly explaining the discrepancy between the biblical accounts and modern human lifespans.
Of course, Psalm 90:10 in older translations typically states that the years of our life are "threescore years and ten", or "fourscore years" if by reason of strength. In modern versions like the NKJV, that translates to "The days of our lives are seventy years, and if by reason of strength they are eighty years."
It's a reminder of the limited time we have and the importance of living wisely in light of our mortality. As they say, "Every choice we make, and every breath we take, brings us one step closer to our eternal slumber." So I guess that as long as we choose to eat healthy and live a decent life, treating others as though they are family, and looking out for others, that we can live a long productive life.
Then again, nothing is guaranteed, I could walk out of here tomorrow and get hit by a bus, or get shot, and it's not like eating hot dogs is exactly healthy for us, we know that but we still do it. Honestly, almost everything we eat in a modern diet is processed and filled with chemicals that is most likely bringing us a day closer to the grave with each delicious bite.
