Yesterday afternoon, I made a big pot of Louisiana shrimp, egg, and okra gumbo, a Cajun delicacy...

And then in the evening, my wife and I had happy hour with our cats out on the balcony while watching a storm roll in... [/size]
After happy hour, we retired indoors to eat our gumbo supper while watching a recent YouTube interview of the Great Boudini, a childhood hero of mine who hosted cartoons and horror movies on one of the local TV stations in our Louisiana homeland

Today, my wife and I will drive to a nearby neighborhood that has an annual Best Decorated Halloween House and Business Contest to see the sights

Oh, that would be fun! A street around the corner did that sort of decorating for almost 20 years. The police would have to direct traffic sometimes on Halloween. But the pandemic kind of killed it. I guess lots of homeowners wanted the out, anyway. I miss that they don't do it so much anymore. Only a few of them. But I'm glad it was going on while my own kids were ToTing. On the bright side, a few more people on my street seem to be doing yard haunts. I used to be the only one.

A few photos of yard haunts in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, VA...
Some homes weren't ready so we will return one evening before Halloween

Those yards look great. There are a few like that around here, too, but I don't think I'm seeing as many as I've seen in past years.

Tonight, I participated in Ovation Dinner Theatre Presents: Monster Mash Murders at the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse
Welcome to the Annual BOO Convention & Halloween Preservation Summit, where classic monsters, modern icons, and creatures of every kind have assembled to celebrate the spookiest night of the year. But before the festivities can begin, a shocking murder throws the convention into chaos—and a mysterious villain known only as "X" threatens Halloween itself. Can you help solve the mystery before Halloween is gone for good? Join Ovation Dinner Theatre for an evening of outrageous comedy, audience participation, and hilarious Halloween hijinks. You'll meet unforgettable monsters, question suspicious suspects, and help crack the case in this fast-paced, interactive comedy murder mystery where everyone's a suspect... and anyone could be the killer. Costumes are encouraged—but beware... even monsters have secrets.
And I got recruited from among the audience to play the speaking role of cowboy and won an award for my acting

Gee; i wonder why you got cowboy...
That looks like a blast. And I don't do groups in public.

All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.
