His subject matter is nothing new. He just repeats what Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Castro have already pushed onto millions that ends up in death and enslavement. No doubt he will blame the Royals winning the World Series on racist homophob gun toting white heterosexual males. That is fine by me.

I honestly think there are a lot of "destination" TOTers. They are probably driving to a few well-known streets in your area. However, if you set out your props and light the place up for a couple of weeks before the big day, you will attract more TOTers. I am confident that people are scouting out the houses a week or two beforehand and getting an idea of where to go.

Even though our weather was not so good, we got 17 TOTers in 6 different groups. And someone rang our bell at 10 pm, but by the time my husband got outside to see who it was, they were gone. We hadn't expected anyone to stop by that late and had already turned off our porch light.

On a good night--when the weather is perfect--we sometimes get as many as 70+, but we were delighted with 17 this Saturday, given the iffiness of the weather. We knew most people would be driving (in fact two groups did emerge from cars).

I never knew about any candy code! I wonder if that is just a Sacramento thing? At any rate, I can easily believe that kids are using social networking now, at least the older ones.

I wonder how exactly they know which house has the best candy? Are people posting on twitter and facebook: "Hey I've got snickers and butter fingers!" and another one "reeses peanut butter cups here!"

I mean I think that's the only way they'd really know unless there's some secret spy cams designated to see what kind of candy we have. It's a conspiracy!

sounds like kids are posting "the house at sunset and vine has full size candy bars" and others might post "the house on redwood and rocky has a great display" kind of thing Mau

Ah I see. I guess I never got that involved with the trick or treat rumor mill. Usually my mom took me trick or treating, and I wasn't the most sociable person in school. When I got older my mom just took me to the store to pick out my own candy. I guess I found that appealing because I could pick out what I liked, and since it came from the store I didn't have to go checking each piece to make sure it's safe. Since I lived in the country my mom would just take me to one of the nearby towns to go trick or treating before we started just going to the store's bulk food section, of course when I did live in town before my parents divorced we just went trick or treating there.
A couple times my grandma handed out candy to the grand kids, we'd just go in and she'd give us candy. It's odd how she was so opposed to Halloween when I lived with her, but I still remember her giving us candy. I guess it's just a grandma thing. She did let me pass out candy at least though and I miss that. But on the other hand it's nice living in the country here in Virginia because you don't get bothered as much. It's nice, quiet and peaceful.
