I'm jealous Mike. I want/need something to do every day. One of my biggest whines is that graduating college was the worst thing that's ever happened to my brain. Now there are no challenges, nothing interesting. In a perfect world (or rather, in my perfect world) 'professional student' would be an actual paying job

I suggest you get yourself a job or 2 jobs maybe. That will keep your working and brain sharp. You also can go take more college class I know most employers pay your fees if you get B average or better.

Luckily I have a job that keeps me busy during the day and the fine people I work for seem to like me and want to keep me around (they have known me since I was a teenager). However, it's just a job--something to pay my bills (including the dreaded student loans). It's nothing really all that fulfilling and it doesn't challenge me. But I'm happy to have a job and I'll continue to keep my eyes and ears open for something more inspiring. But I am certainly green with envy that you get to work on you passion everyday, Mike

Yes, it's both a gift and a challenge to be able to work in a field you love. A challenge, I mean, because it's so tough to figure out how to make that happen.

My older son graduated from Vanderbilt last year. He is in grad school now, so he isn't actively looking for work. But a good friend of his is having a tough time. And this kid graduated summa cum laude from Vanderbilt, one of the top schools in the nation. But his degree was in English (my own field), and there is not an immediate career path for English grads. His friends have actually started a FB page for him entitled "Find xxxxxx a Job." Last fall he was considering enlisting in the military, but I believe the military is being cut back now, so even that option has diminished.
