Rabbits eat your pumpkin plants, Andy? Cause pumpkin vines are fairly prickly; rabbits around here won't touch them...

Our bunnies are a particularly bad breed.

They eat the blossoms.

Wait a second Mac, have you ever watched 'monty python and the holy grail'?

It's mostly rabbits that eat my pumpkin plants, because the town is over run by them, especialy during the Spring and Summer, but the crows like the seeds, ad the squirls also like to nibble on them. I was told that moth balls and a rabbit proof fence woudl help to keep out the critters.

I'm allways glad to provide a good laugh, even though my success at growing pumpkins thus far has been non existant.

At any rate, I am hoping to turn that trend around this Spring. If it turns out okay, I will post photos of my pumpkin patch.

Narp.

I had trouble with squirrels eating my seeds last year, Mike, so this year I've decided to start my seeds indoors. Then I'm gonna make a big patch in the middle of the yard, fill it with compost and manure, and transplant the vines when the danger of frost has passed. I'm hoping there are enough other things in the yard for critters to eat that I won't have to fence in the patch.

I think it's the birds who go after the seads. But it could also be the squirls. I think that might be a good idea about starting the seadlings indoors, and then trans planting them. However, my home town is litteraly alive with rabbits, squirls and crows. It's almost like that plague they had in Austrailia back in the 50s. I went out to my garage last Saturday to stock up my firewood, and there were 3 rabbits right in the yard standing infront of the door. They skedaddled when I walted towards them. I also saw a skunk while ont my way home from the grocery store, so I have to be a little extra careful when I open up my front and back doors to air out my house.

Sounds like what you really need is a good recipe for rabbit stew...
