love the 'skull rack', it would make an awesome fence in some suburban development...

beginning paint and distressing of columns, once I get figured out for the inner supports, lots of weight will have to be added for the high winds around here, I'll put the top on, and I have a few other trim items for top and bottom I want to do.

Are the columns sold foam?
If so you might insert a length of PVC pipe up the center of each column and then sink rebar into the ground, them slide the columns over the rebar.
I use a silmilar technique when I put my gravestones in the yard. It gets hell-a windy up here.

no, it's 3/4" foam over a 2"x2" framework, and it will sit over a leachfield so no pounding stakes, what I have is cement porch foundation blocks for a 4"x4" to attach so I made it to fit over that perfectly, the back is just a plywood door with hinges for easy access. I also have room for a fog machine inside and am going to pipe fog up and out vents in the top of the sign. Should really add to the effect I hope.

You're right, pounding rebar into a leachfield would produce an entirely different horror...

Been busy, getting almost finished. Will have eyes and a mouth on the bat gate that light up when I'm done.

The copper lamps are a nice touch and the bricks look very good.
