Ok, I did check out with Google search engine and just came out with this movie "The Satan Killer" that was made in 1993, and I can't believe it was filmed in my own area of Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

See www.imdb.com/title/tt0130996/locations

Well maybe I'd read about this movie info first before adding to my queue. ;)

You might want to carry a gun if you're going to visit such places as satanic churches. Getting a carry permit in N.C. isn't that hard.

If I had to visit a statnac church, I would carry a gun, even if I had to do so illegaly. Better yet, I would avoid visiting such a place to begin with.

Would a gun protect you from the stuff that's really scary in Satanic churches, though? Well, maybe if the "worshipers" were trying to make you their next sacrifice. I don't think it would do much good against the demonic forces, though.

ETA: I just skimmed the first part of this thread and saw there was conversation a couple of years back about Anton LaVey, now deceased, who was the founder of the Church of Satan. He authored a book called The Satanic Bible, which I read when I was a teenager. (It was the sort of dangerous, provocative title that appeals to teens, you know.) However, even as a young person, I found him sort of a fraud. His "Bible" was based primarily on an inversion (perversion) of Roman Catholic ritual. In other words, if there had been no Roman Catholic church, he wouldn't have had anything to say at all. His thinking seemed sophomoric to me, nothing original about it. He was just someone trying to attract attention and make a buck by saying shocking things, IMO.

Yes, that's right. Anton LaVey died in 1997.

Murf, you are quite correct. A gun can only protect me against the worshipers, or the people who would do me harm. Some times the various satanic churches also use dogs to discourage interlopers or to intimidate or hurt some one who they don't like. A gun can also protect me against them, too. But a gun would not be worth a red cent against a demonic force. Now I must take into consideration that I am not prone to apperitions, nor do I possess any psychic or mystic abilities, so it's not likely that the devil would try to possess me or harm me himself, but my own fear of eternal damnation to hell would be another major deterrent from ever visiting a satanic church. I did visit Bachelor Grove, where satanic rituals were supposedly held, but that's not like going to an actual satanic church.

Anton LeVay, regardless of his intentions, is the founder of the Church of Satan and did write the Satanic Bible. I didn't read the whole thing, but I did read a few excerpts from it, and it seems that the whole thing is more an inversion of the teachings of Christ Himself, rather then an inversion of Roman Catholicism. I could be wrong. But you are right. Thw whole thing was a fraud, designed to mak LeVay rich.
