Johnsoneliza that's pretty cool that we share the same birthday!

I agree Murf. I'm not quite ready for fall yet. Right now I'm really looking forward to the end of July, and not just because of my birthday. I'm going to New York to visit my family! :D I'm very excited.
At the moment I'm enjoying the longer days and warm weather. Fall is beautiful though but I'm not ready for the colder weather yet.
Granted fall in Virginia is pretty warm, at least during the day. The early mornings and nights can get pretty chilly though! The problem is what comes after fall that lingers around the corner. Fall in my home state of New York though can get so cold that it has actually snowed on Halloween before!

I've been adding lots of horror movies and shows to my collection, setting up playlists for the spooky season. Got lucky and found the whole X-Files collection at the library. Got the disks copied, just have to rip and encode them and add them to my media center.

We have all the X-Files, too. IMO, season six was the best.

While I'm definitely looking forward to Autumn and the Halloween season, there's some Summer festivals I'm hoping to hit.

I'm trying to reconnect to summer.
It's going to be 95 today so I took a walk around the neighborhood this morning, before the heat, and the trees are not helping me...

We have a tree that's changing too. Seems early.

How beautiful! So fall comes early out there.

I am loathe to let go of summer this year, because I really, really wanted a vacation, but didn't get one. I am still swimming 3 days a week in the public pool. However, my husband has started back to school already, because classes start next week. So summer is pretty much over for us.

Yesterday was overcast, so the kids and I put on a "scary" movie. We debated which one. They vetoed Rosemary's Baby (too intense), and I vetoed Hocus Pocus (unseasonal). We settled on Dead Again.

Not usually this early, but I'm not complaining.

My sister is an adjunct instructor and her break is next month.

Dollar Store is stocked up.

I'm still 'aggressively unemployed' but still a good ol' American Consumer, so I took $10 to the store and was pleasantly surprised to see the fall stuff.

I spent my ten, including a school supply donation at check out, and came home with a project in mind.

Its hard to see, but the window stickers are metallic oranges, golds and copper.

6 weeks 'til Autumn, 4 'til decorations go up !

That's a good haul for under $10!

I can't help but catch the Halloween bug now...Summer had it's fun points, but it's literally been a wash out with all the rain we have had. Our neighboring state in West Virginia got it the worst with all the flooding. Other states it seems has had drought. If I could, I'd send our extra rain their way. We don't need anymore.

I found some of my Halloween stuff up in New York while visiting family...they had Halloween stuff at the Big Lots up there, and now I'm seeing stores carry Halloween candy...such as Dollar General and Walmart. At a closing sale at a Hallmark store I found something Halloween related, and a co worker gave me some Halloween things.

So...here's hoping for better weather as fall approaches. And I'm going back to college to finish my Bachelor's degree with Mary Baldwin's adult degree program, and they have a program through my Community College I just graduated from now, so I can attend classes there and online and save a lot in gas with commuting!

Great to see you back, Mau!

I used to teach in the ADP at Mary Baldwin. You could have been my student, lol. Hope you have great success! I'm sure you will.

We've had a pretty good summer, weather wise. It's been hot, but was dry in June. July was fairly wet, but we needed it.

Thanks Murf!

I think you told me about that. It would have been really cool to have you as a teacher. :) I think I would have enjoyed your classes Murf. I trust I'll like the Professors at MB anyway. Thank you for the well wishes. I'm a little nervous, but I think it'll be alright.

I'm glad you had a good summer. Was hoping to have more cook outs and bon fires, but all the rain spoiled it. You never know, maybe the weather will get better in the next couple months. Even if it cools down, it shouldn't be too cold for bonfires and cook outs just yet. Fall cook outs and bon fires would be fun anyway, plus you get the nice crisp smell of the fall leaves and a beautiful view. I can't wait. I did have some fun in New York though. We checked out a Go Kart place at the mall up there, caught up with friends and family, checked out an arcade at a different mall and went to a beautiful state park.

Glad you had a fun trip home!

Mary Baldwin is small enough that professors get to know their students. That is a big advantage. A former student of mine from those years lives here in town now. Her eldest child is just a couple of years younger than my youngest, and they have had friends in common, so I now know my former student in a completely different way. Small world.
