And there we have yet another example of how the governmeent is out of control, how we are losing more and more of our personal liberties in the name of "safety," and last but by no means least, one among a whole myriad of reasons why I will not fly in a comercial air line ever again, unless I have to cross an ocean.

I'm gonna decline the full body scanner, and then I'm gonna be like "Go ahead, buddy. I guarantee you the TSA isn't paying you enough for what you have in store!"

They want to pass two laws: First, you must ship all luggage before hand. This means no luggage or carry-ons at all. Second, all passengers must disrobe before boarding the airplane. This means no more whole body searches, just cavity searches.

Luckily for me, I have a car and a motorcycle. My luggage is never lost, I can stop when I want to stop, keep going when I want to keep going. I don't have to worry about over booking, cancelations or hijackers, and the food served at most truck stop restaurants now a days is infinately superior to what you are served on an airplane, IF you get anything to eat at all on a flight these days.
The only way I would ever go through all the hassels of flying ever again is if I had to cross an ocean, or some one dies and I have to get to their wake or funeral on time. And even then, if there is time to drive there, I would. I have an older sister who lives down in Florida. But for the most part, if there's a road that conects my house to where I want to go, that's my option.
But if I did have to go through a body search, I would allow the body scan, but if all the security agents were nice looking women, then I would opt for the body search. (narf narf)

my mother-in-law wanted to buy tickets for all of us to go to Disneyland for Christmas, I told my wife I wasnt going because I wasnt going to get on a plane with all these ridicules security "procedures". I told her if she wants to pack up all the kids and go that was fine with me but I wasnt going to go.
So, like you Mike, I refuse to go through that cr@p even for a free DLand trip.....(we fly for free too)

And it's not just the security measures, either, Spooky. Long before the 9/11 attacks, the airline companies have been jerking their customers around as though we were "privelaged" to be flying ont heir air line. They over booked flights, there were numerous delays, lost luggage, lousy service, long waiting lines, lousy airline food, rude and indifferent ticket agents, etc, etc, etc. I haven't flown on a comercial air liner since 1991, because of all the nightmares that air travelors were subjected to even back then.
When I went to the former Yougoslavia back in the spring of 86, I flew on Pam Am. The flight there was not too bad and rather uneventful. My luggage arivved safely. The trip home, however, was a side trip into hell that I will never forget. The plane back to New York city was 3 hours late. I missed my connecting flight to Chicago, so they had to rerout me,which took for ever. The ticket agent did not process my ticket properly, so I ended up missing my rerout. Finaly when they did get it right, I had half an hour to get from Kenedy Airport to Laguardia Airport. And when I got there my conecting flight was delayed an hour. When I finaly got home, the dunder heads lost my luggage with my 12,000 dollar movie camera in it, and it took them 2 months to locate it and get it back to me.
However, I just figured it was a fluke, so I continued to use the air lines industry, and every flight was an over booked, crowded night mare. Finaly in the fall of 91, we all flew down to Disney in Florida. We flew on Midway Airlines. The plane was crowded, hot and over booked. The luggage check-in was long and the service people were angry with us because their own inefficiency caused a huge back-up of people. I had to wait an inordinate ammount for my luggage to get through, and right in the middle of my vacation, the tv news announced that Midway Airlines filed for bankruptcy. That was the proverbual last straw. From that day on, I have not flown anywhere, and most likely never will unless I have to cross an ocean or get to a funeral.
